Psalm 116:15 „Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”

It was the middle of dinner last night when I heard one man say…
„He was stopped by the Taliban and when they found his university ID, they strangled him with his shoelace.”

Horrified, I looked up to see the speaker simply continue eating his shwarma.
Did he just say that? YES!
Suffering for Jesus is a daily event in his country.

Today, I overheard one brother say to another, „I was working with ‘so and so’ when they captured and killed him. He was a very good man and so it was a very hard time for us.”

And after lunch these things continued when one brother said excitedly, „We can walk outside after dark? In our country they kidnap or kill us if we are out after dark.”

It’s almost too much for this pitiful American to even grasp.

This last set of students wasn’t even told what our training was about, only that an unknown person was giving tools for kingdom work.
They weren’t completely sure that it wasn’t a trick to reveal their secret Christian lives.
When asked how they decided whether to come, one answered, „I prayed to the Lord and He gave me Psalm 111:1. Then I knew that I should come and we would praise the Lord together. Then I felt peace and decided I would come.”
Wow! Talk about letting God direct your steps!

Today, I encourage you to „Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” (Hebrews 13:3) This is your family in Christ, please pray for them.

And please ask the Lord to help me take up my own cross and follow.
With love…T
